Heather Morgan: CEO of Neurobiologix
Episode 800
On today’s episode, we welcome Heather Morgan, CEO of Neurobiologix — the science-driven wellness company using nutrigenomics to personalize supplements and help people get to the root cause of their health challenges.
Neurobiologix is redefining how we think about supplementation. Instead of generic, one-size-fits-all products, the company pairs advanced genetic testing with practitioner-grade formulas designed to support immune, cognitive, and neurological health based on an individual’s DNA. Neurobiologix represents an evolution toward precision, personalization, and evidence-based care.
In this episode, Heather shares how Neurobiologix blends genetics, technology, and clinical expertise to deliver smarter wellness solutions, why personalization is critical in an industry full of noise, and how partnering with healthcare providers helps build real trust and long-term impact. We dive into nutrigenomics, root-cause health, leadership lessons from scaling a science-backed company, and where precision wellness is headed next. This is a thoughtful conversation for founders, operators, and anyone interested in the future of personalized health.

I am unwilling to give up that I will start over from scratch as many times as it takes to get where I want to be. I want to be you. Just want to make sure you will get knocked down. But just make sure you don’t get knocked out, knocked out. So your only choice should be go focus on what you can control. Control. Control. Hi everyone, and welcome to the Kara Goldin show. Join me each week for inspiring conversations with some of the world’s greatest leaders. We’ll talk with founders, entrepreneurs, CEOs and really, some of the most interesting people of our time. Can’t wait to get started. Let’s go. Let’s go. Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Kara Goldin show today, I am so excited to be joined by an incredible individual that I’ve known for some time now, but also who happens to be the CEO of a great company called Neurobiologix. And if you have not heard about Neurobiologix, or maybe you are familiar with the brand, maybe you just don’t know much about the backstory or exactly what they’re up to these days, but Heather Morgan is the CEO and at the forefront of where science, personalization and wellness intersect, and Neurobiologix is taking a very different approach to health, instead of guessing and following trends or one size fits all supplements, the company uses nutrigenomics your DNA to help practitioners and individuals understand what, what their body actually needs. It’s it’s precision wellness built around root cause, not reaction. So I’m so excited to dig into this space with Heather and hear all she’s doing and helping reshape the supplement and wellness space in a crazy, crazy, noisy and often misunderstood industry, so with, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation too. So Heather, welcome to the Kara Goldin show. So excited to see you.
Heather Morgan 2:14
Thank you, Kara. I’m so excited to always enjoy our talks, and really looking forward today to spending some time and, yeah, just talking a little bit about personalized wellness.
Kara Goldin 2:24
Super excited. And as you and I were talking about, it’s, this is episode 800 so I’m so excited to have you be the 800th episode. So a big milestone.
Heather Morgan 2:38
When you told me that I was like, Did she really do 800 or does she give a number to every other one? Or, like, literally, you did 800 episodes, right?
Kara Goldin 2:47
800 episodes? Yeah. And I have to figure out the actual amount of time it took, but it’s, I would have to, I’d have to guess seven years now that it’s taken that long to get here. Crazy.
Heather Morgan 3:04
I’ve been listening for seven years, so I’ve probably heard most of them. They’re always so fun and informative. And yeah, I’m so glad to so glad to sit down and maybe even do a little backstory with you, because I know you and I have talked about health for many years. You know, we’ve talked about health and business and lots of lots of really great things along the way. So I’m very excited, definitely.
Kara Goldin 3:27
And Heather and I met actually through her, through her spouse and EA, who is also amazing and in the health space too. So please say hello to him too as well. So very excited, very excited. So okay, so what is Neurobiologix, and how do you describe the brand and what problem the company is solving? Yeah.
Heather Morgan 3:56
So Neurobiologix is a wellness solutions company rooted in genomics. So we focus on health and wellness from the perspective of personalization, and we do that through genetics, by looking at your genetics and helping to break down the complicated the complicated subject of genetics to make it very personalized to to you, and we also do this for professionals. So we partner with doctors in the same regard, right? So we help give them the tools. We help give them the training and the understanding to be able to approach care through personalization and someone’s DNA.
Kara Goldin 4:38
Let’s start with the basic so if you So, everyone has DNA, and you know, we keep hearing that you need magnesium and and B 12 and all of these different ingredients. But once you actually have the DNA, that actually. I can really tell the real story, right? And like, I’d love to hear the example that you would give, yeah.
Heather Morgan 5:08
So I think you just nailed it. Because, you know, essentially, I think, you know, the supplement industry today is, we know is, is massive, right? And people are on board with being well, and taking supplements and doing things that would help make them better however. You know, I don’t think people really realize that maybe not all those supplements are right for them. So when people take supplementation without that personalized side, when they don’t really know what their genes need, oftentimes they’re, quite frankly, wasting their money or, you know, and even taking things that aren’t necessarily so good for them. So what we know now is through our DNA, we can actually look through nutrigenomics, as you mentioned, we can actually look at how your DNA, it affects how your body reacts to the nutrients that you take in. So we can look at your DNA and understand by looking at SNPs or single nucleotide polymorphisms that within your DNA, and those are just variations or mutations, if you will, within your DNA that impact how you absorb nutrients and how you process and utilize them. And we know today that through some of those snips, when people have these snips, that it can impact how they think, feel, function and thrive, right? So a lot of that impacts our neurobiology. So again, your focus, you know how you you know your anxiety levels, your mood, all of those things can be impacted if you’re not absorbing, say, B nutrients in the right way or the right forms. So that’s really what we can do nowadays, is, is basically take your nutrition to a much higher level and be able to say, these are the foods that work for me, these are the foods that don’t necessarily work for me based on my DNA, and these are the nutrients that I should be focusing on, and maybe the nutrients that aren’t so good for me. I can just give you an example that would be the MTHFR gene, which is one of the snips that we test for. It’s kind of the most one of the more, I guess, recognized snips that are out there. And there’s, there’s more than one, but that basically, can look at how you process, absorb and process folic acid, B vitamins and and we can, you know, basically, look at, you know, today, there’s many people that have issues, you know, either children with focus and or learning, thinking, cognitive issues. And think about, well, if we don’t absorb, you know, if, for example, we don’t process synthetic folic acid very well, we’ll just use that as the example. And you know, synthetic folic acid is now in many of the foods. It’s enriched in many of the foods today, as of I think, the late 90s, we were mandated to enrich foods with certain certain nutrients, including synthetic folic acid. But what we know is that many of the people and people that have this MTHFR gene, they don’t process it well at all, they may have a 30 to 70% chance of not being able to process it. So what happens is, you know, people are eating and absorbing these foods in high levels, because it’s in many, many of the things, certainly the processed foods. And then it’s something that their body doesn’t do well on. And then the end result can be mood, anxiety, those types of things. So, so it’s a very interesting way to approach health, and it’s becoming more and more, I guess, recognized and utilized by practitioners today.
Kara Goldin 9:03
And so how does the neuro biologics genetic testing actually work? Yeah.
Heather Morgan 9:09
So it’s a pretty simple test. Your provider would order it for you, and the test comes to your door. It gets shipped. The provider orders it. It gets shipped right from our warehouse, goes right to the door, and you do a simple cheek swab, and you send that into the lab, you do your registration, send it into the lab, and then it takes a few weeks with the lab to process your your DNA, and then it gets sent back to you. The results get sent through our our platform, so you get a nice report that explains, you know what we love about it and and we really do say that it’s sort of a less is more approach, because, as you know, genes and genetics can be a very complex, very complex, and there’s just so much to understand and learn about it. But what we’ve done is really distilled down the most. First kind of relevant snips that would be linked to how you think, function and feel and thrive and and clinically relevant, right? So we’ve worked with many practitioners, many doctors, over the past 15 years to get the right snips in the test that really is sort of a less or more concept. So we’ve got snips that have a big impact that might, you know, work together in sort of a polygenic way, creating patterns that we know are very common with people who have anxiety, for example, mood, you know, issues detoxification. Issues. Detoxification is a very big part of what we help people to do in terms of understanding how their their body is functioning in that regard. So with these snips, we have a about 120 snips. And then we through those snips, it basically can tell a story, your personal story, that yields more genetic insights, is what you would what we would call it, just insights about your health that allows you to move forward in your life, choosing the you know, the right foods, the right dietary choices, focusing more on foods that you know, like for example, I did my test and I did not realize that vitamin E is, Is is a is an issue for me, right? So I had the snips. I was homozygous on both, you know, from both of my parents, not to absorb vitamin E very well. Never would have thought that in my life. So I started supplementing, you know, in the right way, and just also for my own genes. I also learned that I’m homozygous for MTHFR, which is that that pretty important, impactful one that I was talking about earlier, that talks about how you do absorb folic acid, and, you know, and I’m looking at many of the things that I was consuming, and thinking about, I was like, Wow, there’s so much in there. And it can just explain so much, right? If you’re not sleeping well. And so you just make these tiny shifts within your diet, and you start to really kind of fine tune your choices based on what your DNA is telling you you need. And all of a sudden you’re like, wow, I just, I went a whole day and didn’t get tired, or, you know, I just slept so much better through the night, and you just start to realize that when you live your life purposefully, focusing on what your genetics say you need, then you have much better. I don’t know, do you just you feel a lot better? For sure?
Kara Goldin 12:35
Yeah, absolutely. And, and the saliva test versus like a blood test. Is there one that is better or, I mean, is it, is it just as good to do the saliva test?
Heather Morgan 12:48
Yeah, the saliva test for nutrigenomics is gold standard. It’s really what’s out there. And a lot of it, you know, comes down to also the way the sequencing, right? So we do NGS sequencing versus PCR, for example, and that’s just, that’s just going to tell you more information and more relevant information. So I would say it’s just really important, if you are looking for a lab, to just understand that the lab, you know, their their their quality, right? So you want to make sure they’re CLIA certified and and that the labs are, yeah, doing the most relevant type of sequencing and processing. But overall, from from from a person’s standpoint, we want it to be simple, and the cheek swab gives us everything we need and allows us to have a really good look at, yeah, where people are coming from. From a nutrient perspective,
Kara Goldin 13:40
that’s awesome. So Neurobiologix has been around for for a while. You came in as the CEO just over a year ago, right?
Heather Morgan 13:51
Yeah, that’s correct. It’s been a year and a half, and it’s just been a, an amazing, you know, journey for me certainly, because I’ve had, I’ve had a history in the nutraceutical space, in the health and wellness space, and I kind of had my eyes on this company for a little while. I thought this was a very interesting company. I loved what they were doing from the personalized space, and I loved, you know, there’s a lot of companies that are doing genetic testing, but I really, what I really loved about this company was the fact that they that the doctors who led this company did it through their own clinical experience, and they were developing and researching as they went and creating. And Dr Kendall Stewart, the primary he was creating the interventions or the supplements based on the common genetic variants and the genetic patterns he was seeing in clinical practice, you know, he he worked with, you know, a lot of children with autism and a lot of neurodevelopmental people with neural developmental issues, mental health issues, and that goes, you know, from early life midlife all the way through to late life. You see that when people. Have these, these polymorphisms that they actually express very similarly throughout the lifespan. And you know, in younger kids, it can look like ADHD. It can look like focus issues, learning issues. It can potentially be a profile that you would see of a child who’s on autism, who has autism spectrum. So, you know, it, it again, when we talk about, you know, what these patterns, how they manifest, you know, and how they impact people, it’s typically through their neurobiology. Is, is where we see that manifestation. And then, as you know, people get older. Who have, you know, many of these genetic patterns you may see, you may see some, you know, mental health challenges like anxiety and focus issues and sleep issues as they get older, and then as you get into, you know, later life, you may see some more, you know, neural sort of kind of degenerative type situations, right? Because if people aren’t detoxing, detoxifying Well, that may impact their nervous system down the road. So it’s, it’s kind of a, it’s, I think, you know, approaching health through the neurobiology lens is really, really important today, when we know that we’re in a world that is just so it’s, you know, high paced, high stressed as well as highly toxic, right? So you have people that are just burning it on both ends. They’re exposed to toxins, you know, in front of computers all day, you name it. It’s not the healthiest lifestyle today. But if we really, you know, we do have an advantage to be able to really look at our DNA and our genes and to be able to be proactive and have a preventative approach to health and wellness, because there’s a huge component to this, that’s longevity. And so I would say, you know, getting this information young. I mean, right now we’re actually focusing on fertility and right pre pregnancy, because we can have husbands and wives kind of looking at their genes and really understanding and preparing themselves, because there’s so much that you can do right from a preventative side. So it’s really so one of the things that that’s become, yeah, big for us right now is just people requesting, and the doctors and the professionals that we work with protocols and support for supporting fertility as well as then you know, after children are born, getting them tested right away to really understand their unique genetic profile and to understand what their dietary needs might be, and are there issues with their detoxification? Because if there are issues with their detoxification through maybe that MTHFR gene that we talked about, they may be more likely to not process toxins well and and so, you know, there’s parents that come and they say, We want to slow down our vaccine schedule so that it’s like not hitting, you know, these children’s who don’t detoxify very well as quickly. And so there’s just a lot of good preventative things that can be done. And, I mean, we have a lot of college, you know, college kids and college parents and families and doctors who work with youth that are, you know, supporting kids this way as well, because they’re able to kind of give them a plan, if you know, to support their needs through college, which we know, you know, maybe they’re not sleeping as well, or maybe the anxiety is up, all those things. So, yeah, it’s a game changer. Honestly, it’s a game changer in terms of just wellness overall. But you know, for the professionals who we work with to be able to approach their care, and then just the average consumer out there that’s just saying, I want to, I want to understand my health and wellness better, absolutely.
Kara Goldin 18:46
So you, you mentioned this, but you work very closely with partnering with practitioners. So how does that work? When somebody gets their results, what do they do that? What happens at that point?
Heather Morgan 19:04
Yeah, so we, we work with practitioners in in an interesting way, because we have, we do we provide education first of all. So we really want to train genetic experts, right? We want the pros, the doctors, to be able to have this discussion with their patients, and there’s a lot so we we train the practitioners. We do offer courses so the practitioners can learn about genetics and about how to read the reports, how to educate their patients on the reports, and then the doctor will then give the patient the test, and the patient does the test, as we talked about earlier, and then the results come back through to the doctor, and the doctor shares the results with the patients, and then they can create a care plan from there.
Kara Goldin 19:48
And is there, is there additional charges for the practitioners that you’re meeting with? Or how does the business model kind of work for you all?
Heather Morgan 19:59
Yeah, so. Business model would really be between the practitioner and their patient, and they all have a different business model. So I know for us, in working with practitioners, we just, we work with them, directly supporting them with education. They can order tests through us. They can order supplements through us, and just as a wholesale type model. But overall, I guess the business model thinking from the consumer perspective would be whatever the practitioner is is doing.
Kara Goldin 20:26
So these aren’t doctors that are working for you all, for nutribiologics. They are right.
Heather Morgan 20:33
These are doctors all across the country, actually, globally, we’re expanding. And these are doctors that want to bring personalized wellness into their toolkit, because there really is this push for personalized care, you know, versus sort of, you know, reactive care, which we’ve seen for so many years, where, you know, it’s more someone has symptoms, they go to the doctor, they try to figure out what it is, they treat the symptoms. I think it’s really refreshing to see that doctors today are really open and receptive and actually looking for ways to be more preventative with their care models. And that’s what we’re doing, is we’re really providing the tools for the doctors to be able to do that, and then, of course, the tools for them to help support the patients.
Kara Goldin 21:19
Yeah, definitely. So the foundational five system, that’s one thing that I’ve heard the company talk about. Can you talk a little bit more about that and why? I guess targeted supplements instead of more products, makes more sense. Yeah.
Heather Morgan 21:37
So, I mean, in addition to testing, we also have amazing professional grade nutraceuticals, and we just, you know, we know that there are some core supplements that most people take from and that are recommended from their doctors, and even if they’re not doing a genetics test, They can certainly, you know, take the basics, the foundational so we call it the foundational five, because it involves, you know, a multivitamin, which is our longevity multi it’s a fantastic just, yeah, I would say best in class, multivitamin that has all the most bioavailable forms, and it has a nice stack in there for anti aging. So it has, you know, nicotinamide, riboside and some other anti aging resveratrol, and some really nice anti aging support in there. But it also has great, you know, chelated minerals, and, you know, minerals that are just the most bioavailable form, as well as the B vitamins. So everything that’s in there is just, is the most bioavailable form, really high end. And people love it. It’s been extremely well received and popular in the marketplace. And then we have a vitamin D, which is wonderful, and that is, you know, 5000 IU, and it’s with D, you know, it’s a d3 with k1 and k2 which is, is, is the way the body wants to receive it. And it’s actually in a liquid capsule. So the it’s in olive oil, because we know that it’s fat soluble, and so we, we put it in an olive oil filled capsule, so it’s very, very nicely delivered. And more bio bill and bioavailable. And then the same thing with our magnesium, you know, we have the good quality magnesium there, and we have a couple, we have a brain magnesium that’s really, really good for the brain as well, that crosses the blood brain barrier and just really, kind of down regulates that, you know, central nervous system. So it’s, it’s, it’s kind of, you know, bringing the anxiety down a notch. But then it also has a form of magnesium in there that supports cellular energy. So it’s kind of adaptogenic in a way. It’s bringing down the nervous system, but it’s also giving you energy through the cells, which is where you want it, right? You want energy coming from the cells. We don’t want to have speedy energy coming from caffeine. But so it’s a really nice magnesium product that, and that’s called Mind mag, and it has two forms that cross the blood brain barrier, one that’s bound to taurine, which is very calming. The other one is there to support energy within the cells. So just a lot of those good foundational products as as you know, I think that most people need whether or not you take a genetic test, many of our supplements are, are designed just to create optimal wellness.
Kara Goldin 24:36
So I think, I think that’s three of them, right? So there’s the multi, there’s the D, and then there’s the magnesium, and then we have a four and five, yeah.
Heather Morgan 24:49
So we have a great Berberine product. I don’t know if you’ve ever taken Berberine, but that product is really beautifully formulated to support blood sugar regular. Regulation. So we know today, you know, blood sugar regulation is, is a problem for people. And so there’s a lot of, yeah, just a lot of need, and almost as a foundational right, as a staple. And so I think that’s that’s really key and important today, that people are supporting their blood sugar. And whether or not, you know, there’s a lot of people on GLP ones, there’s a lot of people that are just, you know, trying to to maintain their weight, and other people that just really have to do it clinically. So having that blood sugar support is really important. And then the fourth one, I’m just, I’m trying to
Kara Goldin 25:37
think, you have so many amazing ones, but it’s yeah, that not to, not to stump you on this,
Heather Morgan 25:46
yeah, no, like, I mean our gut products, we have a new, really good probiotic product. I think that’s another part of the foundation that, you know, we want to make sure people have, is just, you know, gut is really important as well. So we have a really excellent new probiotic that it’s been incredibly well received by the market. Again, it has, it has key components in it that are supporting the gut brain axis, so supporting, you know, that enteric nervous system that the gut, that you know, connects in with the brain from the gut. So that’s a really interesting probiotic that we encourage people to have as a foundation as well.
Kara Goldin 26:25
So what’s been the hardest part of joining and scaling a science driven wellness company? I know you’ve been in the space for a while, but what would you say to some someone out there, who is, who is, you know, thinking about going into a similar space, but because I feel like there’s just a ton of education, right? And it’s not just about, you know, there’s a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that I think is, is really key. And you’re not just B to C like you, you’re also B to B. I mean, you’re serving a lot of doctors. You have a lot of different hats to wear, I guess, so to speak. But what’s been the most challenging part of scaling a science driven wellness company?
Heather Morgan 27:24
Yeah, I you know, I would say it’s just, it’s really filtering out, right, the most important what to focus on, and just staying very, very focused on the most important things. And I’m sure you, you know this as a CEO, especially as a visionary, there are many opportunities out there, especially in our industry. I mean, our industry I always say is like, you know, jumping on the freeway, going 100 there’s just so much going on, and there’s so many opportunities. And so I would think, for me, the hardest part has just been, you know, saying no and just putting things, you know, in in the right compartment, and saying we’re going to focus here, and these other, these other amazing opportunities, if they’re going to be here next year, then that’s, that’s where we’ll focus. So I would say that there’s just, there’s a lot of amazing opportunities right now, and there’s, and, you know, we’re a small team. We’re doing a lot of great things. I do believe that, you know, just sort of challenging and staying really focused, staying in the lane that we need to be in, and, you know, trusting that, that you know all the all the right decisions are being made,
Kara Goldin 28:36
yeah, for sure. So last question, what excites you most about the future for Neurobiologix, it’s you. You’re doing your cutting edge company doing amazing, amazing work. But what is it that excites you most in your in your role, and, and, and what the company is doing, yeah.
Heather Morgan 29:04
So, gosh, I What excites me most, I would say the partnerships. We have some very, very good partnerships that we’re aligning with, and we’re collaborating with some wonderful companies. I always love that aspect of the business, because it really that’s where you can grow and thrive and shine. And you know, it’s mutually beneficial when you’re working with another company in a like minded way. So what excites me most is the partnerships. But you know, also too, just just overall, being in this industry, at this place in time, in the personalized wellness space in itself, is extremely exciting, but yeah, just just kind of aligning with other great, like minded companies and making some really cool things happen.
Kara Goldin 29:49
That’s awesome. Well, Heather, thank you so much for joining today. I’m so excited about everything that you’re doing, and thank you for sharing all. All about Neurobiologix and and your company, your role. It really is incredible work that you all are doing, and really shows how you know thoughtful and precise and and personalization is is really having impact in an industry that I think everyone cares about everyone should care about health and wellness.
